Platonic Dads And Their Impact On Successful Athletes

What makes a great athlete? Despite years of poorly-made Disney movies telling you that hard work and determination are all you need to reach your big-league dreams -- it all boils down to one thing: your parents.

Genetics are part of this equation, but more importantly, you need parents who are willing to invest the time and energy into making you something that’s worth talking about. Whether that’s a D1 athlete or a used car salesman with a busted knee, who’s to say?

Luckily for Nick and KB’s old high school classmate, Grant, he has blessed with the perfect parents: two dads. These weren’t just two dads, they were platonic dads. So, for Grant, growing up in a house where every day was for the boys was the perfect environment for him to develop into the all-state quarterback he became. Their goal was to only make sure Grant became a star.

Shit, they even had a classmate named Jackson with THREE dads? Playing catch lasted all day and night for this guy. When one dad got tired, the other stepped up and joined in. The improvement as an athlete was constant. Move over Trevor Lawrence…

The fact I was able to play three years of solid intramural ball at the University of Arizona without platonic dads should speak volumes to how much I have had to overcome as an athlete.
