Is Frank Haith the Most Average College Basketball Coach of All-Time?

On the final episode of the Barstool Bench Mob in 2020, we recapped what was a relatively light college hoops slate from Monday and Tuesday. But the biggest upset this week came over in the AAC, when unranked Tulsa came out of nowhere to upset No. 5 Houston. That's as big of a win for the Golden Hurricane as you'll get in conference play.

The head coach for Tulsa? Frank Haith. The one who started at Miami, then went on to Missouri, where he led the Tigers to a No. 2 seed in 2012, only to lose to No. 15 Norfolk State in one of the more memorable upsets in tournament history, Now, Haith has been at Tulsa since 2015. That brings us to the headline of this blog. During last night's show recording, I came to the realization that Frank Haith has ONE win in the NCAA Tournament in his 15-year head coaching career. Three schools, four total appearances, and just one win. That came back in 2008, when No. 7 Miami advanced to the Round of 32.

Honestly, good for Frank Haith. To have this long of a tenure as a head coach at some big schools and just one NCAA Tournament win on the resume is impressive. Could that stat change this year? Potentially, but as of right now, Tulsa is nowhere to be seen in Joe Lunardi's bracketology.
