Russell Wilson Says He's Better At Baseball Than Tim Tebow And Feels Like It Was His Best Sport

Full disclosure I've always hated Russell Wilson and I don't think that's a secret. That son of a bitch has been responsible for two horrible memories in my life as a Packers fan: the Fail Mary and the 2015 NFC Championship Game. When he was "traded" to the Yankees in 2018 I pretty much puked on the spot. The thought of him throwing footballs to Judge and Stanton in the outfield and causing them to tear every ligament in their bodies was a nightmare that lived with me all spring. He tried to cure Clint Frazier's concussions with water for christ's sake.

All I feel is pain when I see or hear his name. Today he went on Pardon My Take for a fantastic interview. Takes a lot for me to listen to that man speak, but for this I'm willing to give the exception. The topic of baseball came up and Tim Tebow specifically. They asked him who is better at baseball and Wilson's answer was something

“I’m gonna go with me. I can turn a mean double play, Tim. I haven’t seen him play though, but I think that if I had really focused on baseball out of high school, I was gonna be a top pick out of high school but I ended up turning it down. I still got drafted late, but I always felt like baseball was my best sport… baseball was actually my love.”

First of all, no question in my mind Russell Wilson is a better baseball player than Tim Tebow. Wilson was drafted out of high school by the Orioles and a few years later by the Rockies in the 4th round. He played 3 years of baseball at NC State as well before fully committing to football. Tebow just failed as a QB in the pros and thought he was talented enough to succeed in the sport. There is a large difference between these dudes and their baseball talents.

Now to the crazy part that Russ adds on at the end. Dude thinks baseball was his best sport! Forgive me, but what an asshole. I mean get the fuck out of town dude. You may have liked playing baseball more than football, but there's no chance in hell you would've been a better baseball player had you taken that path. This guy is a Hall of Fame quarterback, one of the best to ever do it and thinks if he took the baseball rout it would have gone better. When you step into the batting cage during BP at George M. Steinbrenner Field in March do you get off a few good hacks? No question, go nuts man, but when a pitcher is cycling through fastball, changeup, curveball on you and changing speeds at an elite level you're going to get fooled silly. Are you better than Tebow? Absolutely. Could you have been better at baseball than football? Fuck no. Maybe you're a defensive specialist…maybe. Could consistently hold his own in the field, maybe. Offensively, no dice. Just a preposterous statement all around.

Anyways, go listen to the latest PMT out today featuring Russ!
