No Big Deal The Canucks Just Casually Played Some Pond Hockey On Top Of A Mountain In B.C.

ODR season is finally here. Unfortunately, every year it seems like you start to see less and less outdoor hockey rinks. Some may say it's due to the rising temperatures and global warming, others will say its because managing an ODR in your backyard is a giant bitch. Well, if you have the itch to go play some pond hockey like Elias Pettersson and the Vancouver Canucks you can always take a helicopter to the top of a mountain north of Vancouver. You can basically guarantee solid ice up there.

The day was Nov. 7th and Elias Pettersson, Thatcher Demko, Zack MacEwen and Alex Edler of the Canucks alongside Troy Stecher of the Red Wings and Olympic gold medallist figure skater Patrick Chan and his wife jumped on a helicopter out of Vancouver to head north into the mountains of B.C. The man running this whole show? Bradley Friesen. A name you may remember who helped Biz pull off an ALL TIME ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

On a helicopter ride in early October, Friesen noticed there was some serious ODR potential as he flew over some of the gorgeous mountains in British Columbia and noticed some glaciers. So why not call up Petey and the boys for a little pond hockey action?

I would do dirty, DIRTY things for this experience. Things that should never be talked about again. I really can't think of a better pond hockey experience. This sure as hell beats playing in your next door neighbor's back yard. Not only do you not have the local neighborhood kids itchin and bitching about sharing the ice, but you also have the most scenic back drop AND a goalie. How rare is it to have a goalie for pond puck? It's next to impossible. This was a pond hockey experience executed perfectly.

I'm not sure if the NHL would be able to pull off a game in the mountains of British Columbia, but if they could…..oh boy would that be something fucking spectacular.
