Who Would Be The Worst Actor/Actress To Take A Punch From?
"Dolph Lundgren put me in the hospital for nine days," Stallone said in a previous interview. "I knew I was in trouble when I showed up and nuns met you at the ICU."
Looking back at the footage, Stallone says the punch that did all the damage was an uppercut, which "caught the ribs and hit the heart against the ribcage." The doctors told the actor that type of injury usually occurred in head-on collisions. Stallone quipped, "I said, 'Close. I did hit a bus, of sorts.'"
"All I did was obey orders," Lundgren joked. "He was the boss. I did what he told me. We came back to L.A. and the producer was like, 'Hey Dolph, you've got two weeks off — Sly's in the hospital.'"
This is one of those stories I heard about all the time but just assumed was one of those cinema urban legends like the rain in 'Singin' in the Rain' being milk, the MGM lion killing someone or the dead munchkin. Seeing both Sly and Dolph talk about it in extremely accessible videos that I could and should have looked up before is so cool. Being so dedicated to a movie that you're willing to let 6'5 250 lbs Lundgren hit you with a full force uppercut is a level of professionalism that needs to be respected more.
This made me think, who would be the worst actor to take a punch from? Dolph is certainly near the top of my list, but here are some others.
- The Rock (Hobbs and Shaw): Dwayne "Teramana Man" Johnson is imposing in every movie he has ever been in. Hobbs and Shaw Rock stands out to me, tho, as being a point where he is uniquely bulk shredded. Mf's shoulders look like a mountain range and his biceps are the size of my whole waist.
- Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (Game of Thrones): Thor Bjornsson is, simply put, the largest man. It's almost unfair to have him since he is a bodybuilder turned actor, but I make the rules here. The Mountain is not to be trifled with.
- Florian Munteanu (Creed II): If you've seen Creed II, you know this dude is the real deal. He's an IRL heavyweight boxer from Romania who goes by the moniker "Big Nasty". Even looking at him here is scary.
- Hugh Jackman (The Wolverine): In my opinion, this was peak fitness for Jackman. Look at that vein popping out of his arm! Look at his shoulders! It could not be more obvious that Hollywood trainers give actors some form of PED's and that is totally fine with me (as long as I get some too one day).
- Arnold Schwarzenegger (Conan the Barbarian): Something I haven't noted yet that I probably should have is that simply being strong doesn't mean you know how to throw a punch or anything. Regardless, peak Olympia Arnold is a preposterously strong human. RIP Steve Michalik.
- Weili Zhang (Future pick): This has obviously gone off the rails a little bit since she is not yet an actress. Here is my counterpoint:
1. I think she will probably be in a movie or show one day.
2. While thinking about people I wouldn't want to be hit by, I couldn't stop thinking about how I really, really do not want to be hit by this woman.
There are more picks to be made like Henry Cavill, Gina Carano, Sly, JCVD, Hemsworth and a bunch of fighters-turned-actors. Tweet me and yell at me what your pick would be, and also BUY BUY BUY!
