Daily Mail – Before a son of the family who owns Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner American Pharoah can focus on securing the Triple Crown, he has another event on his calendar: college graduation.

Justin Zayat, racing and stallion manager at Zayat Stables, will graduate from New York University on Wednesday with an economics degree, having taken his last final just days before heading to the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore on Saturday.

The 23-year-old Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity member said he’s had to balance school and racing as his family’s horse American Pharoah has captured the attention of the nation.

‘It’s been kind of crazy, with all these people calling, and with managing the horses,’ Zayat told the Washington Post. ‘Since the Derby, I probably haven’t slept more than two hours a night. I’m running on pure adrenaline.’

‘Trust me, I wouldn’t trade places with anybody. It’s been a distraction, but it’s definitely been a good distraction,’ he added.

Zayat, who was captured on camera vomiting in the grandstand at Churchill Downs after American Pharoah won the Kentucky Derby, took his last final exam on Wednesday, on economic development.

‘I go to class, I go to parties, I’m in a frat, I hang out with my friends,’ he told USA Today. ‘I try to have a fun college life, but at the same time I know how much responsibility I have. But it’s not work.’

‘I love doing this. I love coming to see my horse and trying to win a race, but school is more of a burden on me than this. It was always like, thank God I’m done with homework, I can go do racing now,’ he added.

Not sure how much of a known fact this is or not, but I watched all three of the Triple Crown races and the coverage and didn’t know this. That the manager of the family stables that own American Pharoah is a freaking 23 year old college frat bro at NYU. Just a nice little depressing factoid I wanted to share with everyone on this lazy Wednesday morning, all you college kids wondering if you’ll ever amount to anything, all you recent grads struggling to find your footing and get a decent job. This dude is just counting stacks of million dollar bills while his horse wins Triple Crowns. It was a distraction actually, his words not mine, having to take time out of his studying and partying and overall awesome life schedule to show up to the Belmont and casually watch the horse he manages achieve the biggest accomplishment in racing. Meanwhile I can’t even manage the hundreds of dollars of blog money in my bank account well enough to pay my rent on time. Fucking Justin Zayat. Fuck out of my face with your sweet existence.

PS – My favorite part is how they just snuck this in there –

Just to let everyone know how frat he is.
