Let's Dip Our Collective Toes Into The Stronach 5 Today
So, this isn't a ticket that I play very often, but today it's kind of calling my name. The Stronach 5 is a $1 Pick Five ticket that is spread across multiple Stronach owned tracks. Today, for example, we're hitting Gulfstream West, Laurel, Golden Gate and Santa Anita. It's a nice ticket and the sequence goes quickly. Also, it pays because of the dollar increment. I have a ticket that I like a lot today so, let's go over it. It starts at 3:58pm et in the Eighth Race at Gulfstream Park West.
Gulfstream Eighth Race (Leg One): This is a drop off a win for the (8) French Quarter, so he'll get the top spot on the ticket, but there are other interesting ones as well. The (13) Dr Harlan is a horse that has been good at times at Gulfstream and is a must use as well. I think the (12) Frank First has a shot here as well as he drops from the Allowance class back to claimers where he has won before. I'll also use the (1), (2) and (5) for coverage.
Laurel Seventh Race (Leg Two): (1) Largent is the clear class here and a single on my ticket. This Pletcher gelding is a special one and if you've seen him, you understand. I think he will roll today in this sprint.
Laurel Eighth Race (Leg Three): I'm going to single (5) Embolden here kind of by default. I wasn't looking for a single, but I really couldn't find another that I thought could win this race. Embolden is clearly the classiest and the best of this bunch on paper and I don't want to waste the money throwing a dart, so here we are.
Santa Anita Fourth Race (Leg Four): This is an interesting race. I lean to the (9) Big Andy because the horse has run well late in previous races and has Flavien Prat aboard who usually does not ride two year olds. However she's trying the grass for the first time. I think the (2), (4) and (6) are all live here today and I have to use the firster from Doug O'Neill, (12) Princess Sadie.
Golden Gate Third Race (Leg Five): The (2) Dyn O Mite is going to be tough, but not impossible to beat. This horse comes back to MSW company after running in two consecutive stakes races and finishing fifth in both of them. A logical choice for sure. I think both the (4) and (6) have run races in the past that could win here so I will use both for coverage.
