These Driverless Trucks That Can Get Up To At Least 50mph Can Get The Hell Out Of My Face And Directly Off The Road
[Source] - The AET 1 and AET 2 designs have top speeds of 18 miles per hour and weigh 26 tons but can carry an additional 16 tons.
The AET 3 and AET 4 versions have a similar weight but can travel at 27 miles per hour and around 50 miles per hour respectively.
AET 4 is the only one designed for highway driving.
The AET 3 is supposed to be for rural settings and the others are for more controlled situations.
The trucks don't have cabs at the front meaning no steering wheel or pedals.
You know who annoys me the most on the road? Trucks. Specifically trucks in the left hand lane and refuse to get over while going 5-12 mph under the speed limit. You know what I trust less than that? DRIVERLESS TRUCKS. Are we out of our mind here? I don't care if this is in Sweden or England or somewhere in Europe. It's only a matter of time until they come over here to America and I get even more aggravated.
Now this is where it's a catch-22 for me. I often have to take long road trips. Always have, that's what happens when you move 8 hours away from your hometown for college and post grad life. There's nothing better than not having to drive all the time. Maybe you just want to sit back and scroll Twitter. Maybe you just want to slap on a movie to make that drive go a bit quicker. I'd love to have a driverless car so I can just sleep or whatever. But I don't trust it. That's being old and I'm for sure an old. I'm just supposed to sit there and assume this thing knows what it's doing? I don't think so.
Quite simply I don't trust this truck carrying shit without a driver. What if there's black ice? What if it slips. What if something falls out because it's not packed right. Too many variables for me. Just stay normal and hire some trucker and get pissed at them for driving too slow in the left hand lane.
