Nicholas Braun Doesn't Play Greg the Egg, HE IS GREG THE EGG

I'm sure by now you've seen Dave's pizza review with Greg the Egg from Succession (and Bon Jovi). Gotta give a shout out to Frankie for recognizing his voice because if not, Nick Braun would have never pulled his mask now and revealed that he is in fact, Greg the Egg.  Nick is clearly nervous meeting Dave for the first time and can ya blame him? I guarantee most barstool employees (and stoolies) were equally nervous when they met Dave for the first time, and were probably also accused of "being super weird" just like Greg was. A lot of the comments were along the lines of "wait Nick is just playing himself in Succession?". And the answer is yes, yes he is. I first realized this watching his first Late Night show appearance on Colbert. Most actors on these shows share these stories that are so polished they almost seem scripted (which they probably are). But not Greg. Greg is all of us if we were on a late night show, incredibly awkward, which is why I love this clip so much.

In an age when most great "American" Actors I watch, end up actually being British or Australian (Christian Bale, Henry Cavill, Margot Robbie, literally 75% of Hollywood), it's refreshing that with Greg the Egg, what you see is what you get. You could go to acting school for 20 years trying to master "awkwardness" and still wouldn't be able to pull it off like Greg does. So hats off to Nick Braun, you are the Daniel Day Lewis of social anxiety. Here's to hoping the many more Emmys you'll win never change you (and if you ever want to grab a beer slide into my DMs, I won't call you a weirdo).
