Much Anticipated John Belushi Doc Debuts At 9PM On Showtime

(This blog is being re-run as a heads-up.)

Fuck. Yes. It's about goddamn time one of the funniest people ever and a comedy giant got a proper documentary about his much-too-short life.

On March 5, 1982, John Belushi was the first celebrity death to ever hit me like a stun gun. I wasn't even 10 years old yet but I'll never forget seeing the news come across a local station that Bluto Blutarsky died at 33 and feeling devastated. In the span of just a few years, he'd gifted us with countless 'SNL' classics, a HOF film debut that literally changed college culture in the U.S., and the best buddy comedy/musical/chase movie that $30M of 1970s currency could buy. And then he was suddenly gone.

In the ensuing 38 years, the iconic performer has never been given his proper due for what he provided to American comedy history. I hope this documentary does just that.
