The Tampa Bay Rays Celebrated Their AL East Title Responsibly With a Socially Distanced Dance Battle
The Tampa Bay Rays clinched the 2020 AL East title on Wednesday night, the first time the team has won the division since 2010. But in the age of coronavirus, MLB banned alcohol from all celebrations, so division-winning celebrations — and soon, Postseason series celebrations — will feel a little different than they otherwise would this year.
But Tampa found a way to still have a good time celebrating their hard work. And what better way to do that than with a socially distanced dance battle? Brett Phillips and Randy Arozarena got into it on the "dance floor", which was really just the outside of Citi Field presumably waiting on the team buses.
And the general consensus seems to be that Phillips walked away with the win, but my pal Trent noticed something else about the Rays outfielder.
In my opinion, this is a fairly low blow given the fact the Rays clinched their division in a game which also put one of the likely final nails in the coffin of the Mets' Postseason hopes, but there is somewhat of a resemblance there.
Regardless, congrats to the Rays on their first division title in a decade. They should be a really fun team to watch in a Postseason where anything can happen.
