I cannot wait. I am blown away. Possibly skeptical? How can they pull off a movie of this scale? Well, we can start with this guy…

Denis Villeneuve. Genius. From 'Prisoners' to 'Incendies', 'Enemy', 'Sicario', 'Arrival', and, most of all for me, 'Blade Runner 2049', successfully executing the size of this movie is right in Denis' wheelhouse.

The 1984 'Dune' from David Lynch has grown on me over the years, but it is still far from being great.

It isn't totally his fault, or anyone involved for that matter, though, because following 'Star Wars', why would you not try and duplicate the success of a space saga? The issue (despite me being a dumb idiot and not having read the book, I do know this much) largely being that 'Dune' is a difficult book to adapt into one movie, especially with the constraints of technology in the 1980s. It's a beloved book, but one that just was made at the wrong time.

Denis Villeneuve knows this, and that's why the 2020 'Dune' is just going to cover half of the book:

“I would not agree to make this adaptation of the book with one single movie,” says Villeneuve. “The world is too complex. It’s a world that takes its power in details.” (via Collider)

He gets it. Smart guy. Great moviemaker.

Look at the fucking people in this movie (and working on it):

Get me to December. Now.
