David Blaine's Balloon Stunt Was the Dumbest Thing I've Ever Watched

I like David Blaine. He's done a ton of really dangerous — and therefore cool — shit over the years. So when I discovered he was going up in a bunch of balloons with an oxygen tank and jumping with a parachute, I was sure there was something I was missing. There's no way that was it for a guy who nearly killed himself trapping himself in a block of ice.

But no, that was it. he just went up attached to these preposterous balloons and eventually let go and pulled his parachute and landed in a field.

Now far be it from me to criticize someone who is willing to do some of the things Blaine has, but it's those very things that lead me to expect better than "holding" onto some balloons for a while and then doing a glorified skydive. I'm still not entirely sure what the point was. To make a bunch of Up memes?

Daniela was watching this thing like it was Game 7 of the World Series and I kept waiting for something cool to happen. It just never did.

The most dangerous part of the whole thing is if he had fallen at 80 feet off the ground and couldn't pull his parachute. The higher he kept going, it was just a wait for him to jump a pull the parachute.

Maybe I'm just not getting it, but this stunt was spectacularly stupid. Blaine did rip a fart at 24,000 feet, though.
