Wake Up With A Did You Know: Cleopatra's Reign In Egypt Was Closer In Time To The Moon Landings Than To The Time When The Pyramids Were Built

This is one of those things that makes me realize two things: 1) my brain is dumb and 2) how old the pyramids really are. 

On the first point, I just have ZERO concept of time beyond like 100 years. Basically if something happened before my grandparents' lifetime then it just gets put into a folder of my brain labeled "old shit". And it all kind of occurs, in my head, at roughly the same time. Realizing that just because Cleopatra is Egyptian and old doesn't mean she was around any time even fucking CLOSE to the pyramids being constructed is a mind fuck. 

Cleopatra reigned from 52 BC to 31 BC. 

The pyramids of Giza were built roughly from 2550 to 2490 BC. 

That means when Cleopatra was around the people who built the Pyramids were as ancient to her as Jesus Christ is to us. 

She is SIGNIFICANTLY closer in age to the moon landing than she was to the building of the pyramids. Like 500 years or so. 

One of those facts that I think about every so often and it always blows my mind. And nothing really like those pyramids existed anywhere before that. We went from running around the grasses gathering up ripe fruit, hunting with sticks and rocks, and cutting each other's heads off to poof!...GIANT ever-lasting physical structures that make no sense in the snap of a finger.
