Priority Number One In A Deadly Train Derailment - Find This Woman's Violin
Daily Mail - A Washington National Opera musician, who was on board the Amtrak train that derailed Tuesday night, killing six passengers and injuring at least 65 others, is facing backlash for complaining on social media about the loss of her violin.
Professional violinist and music professor Jennifer Kim was among the 238 passengers traveling from Washington DC to New York on Amtrak train 188 when it derailed in Philadelphia at around 9pm.
Some survivors had to scramble through the windows of toppled cars to escape. One of the seven cars was completely mangled.
About 15 minutes after the deadly wreck, Ms Kim sent out an acerbic tweet directed at the accounts @AmtrakNEC and @Amtrak which read: ‘thanks a lot for derailing my train. Can I please get my violin back from the 2nd car of the train?’
The tweet was accompanied by a blurry cellphone photo that showed first responders in blue uniforms converging on the toppled train.
…
Now I know what you’re thinking. 6 people have been killed so far and a handful of others critically injured. Hundreds of others dealing not only with bumps and bruises, but the trauma from this horrifying ordeal that they’ll have to carry with them for the rest of their lives. The intense fear gripping them every time they have to step on a train for the rest of their life. The painful PTSD of a high speed train derailment, physical and mental scars that won’t go away easily, if ever.
But enough about them – can somebody do their JOB around here and find Jennifer Kim’s god damn violin? Ummm EMTs, excuuuuuse me, that CPR can wait, I’ve got a musical instrument somewhere in the 2nd car and I’d realllyyyy like to have it back right now. I did not upgrade to Business Class for this type of derailment inconvenience.
Seriously how stuck up and tone deaf to the world do you have to be to be to do something like this? Yeah you don’t know the extent of the damage yet, and maybe you’re not injured at all, but newsflash, your train just went off the tracks. Look at the freaking thing. Obviously people were seriously hurt. Your first thought is to send a snarky tweet to Amtrak and ask them to find your fucking violin? Here’s an idea, put your iPhone away and go help someone. Unreal.
