Bill Belichick operates in the way that I wish every Boston sports team would, and that’s that he will cut ties with literally anyone at any time if it means that it will make the Patriots a better team. It’s a coldhearted and ruthless strategy that has earned the New England Patriots four Super Bowl titles and six Super Bowl appearances since 2001. But damn it, do I wish he made an exception when it came to Vince Wilfork.
I think we’re at a point now where we can safely say that the Patriots are the most hated professional sports team in the world — maybe even more than the Lakers and Yankees combined at this point. But Patriots hater or not, I will never understand how anybody could dislike Vince Wilfork. They say that hard times will always reveal your true friends, and there has never been a more difficult time in the life of Tom Brady.
