Florida Friday: Man Tries to Cash $30 Lottery Ticket at the Same Store He Stole It From
It is continually astounding, yet comforting, to see stories of just how stupid people from Florida are.
Today's Florida Man is Herbert McClellan, who stole 13 scratch-off lottery tickets from a Speedway gas station in Clearwater Beach, Florida. He apparently escaped from the store unscathed, because he had enough time to scratch the tickets and find a $30 winner.
Unfortunately for McClellan, stealing lottery tickets from a gas station didn't even turn out to be the worst decision he made for his own self-interest. That came when he returned to the very same Speedway to try to cash in his $30 and was arrested shortly thereafter, having been noticed by an employee.
Like, you seriously couldn't have gone to any other gas station in Clearwater? I've been to Clearwater multiple times; 80 percent of the businesses there are Surf Style beach shops and abnormally large gas stations with full-service kitchens. They're on every corner, dude. Just pick a different one.
But had that happened, we wouldn't have this beautiful cautionary tale of natural selection. McClellan is currently in the Pinellas County Jail on charges of petit theft and dealing in stolen property.
