The Phillies Should Absolutely Sign JT Realmuto But They Should Also Probably Stop Sucking Ass
I think it's pretty clear at this point that I'm not the biggest baseball guy in the world. I'm a huge bandwagon guy when it comes to baseball, definitely willing to admit that. And even when the Phillies are good, I'd rather watch a Calgary Flames vs Dallas Stars playoff game over a Phillies regular season game.
But right now? With this dog shit bullpen getting their dicks kicked in by the Orioles 3 straight nights? Holy shit. You couldn't possibly pay me enough to suffer through one of these games. And I'd imagine that I'm not alone here. The Flyers are an absolute force right now. The Sixers are frustrating as shit but at least they're a playoff team. The Eagles are always going to be the #1 team in this city. But this sorry ass team? I'd imagine that best case scenario for the Phillies is that the city is indifferent towards them. Because if you're not indifferent, then you hate their fucking guts.
Now Bryce and Realmuto have nothing to do with the bullpen being complete ass. It's not their fault that management decided to sign a bunch of drunk dudes out of your local adult softball league and trotted them out there as middle relievers. They're out there doing their job every night. So if anybody on this team should be allowed to make any sort of statements, it's them.
It's one thing if the Phillies fucking suck but at least they extend Realmuto and fans know they're set up for the future. It's one thing if the Phillies management continue to be a bunch of dickheads and botch this Realmuto situation but the Phillies are winning baseball games and fans have a quality team to take their minds off the signing. But if you're not going to sign Realmuto AND the team is going to suck? Again, I just can't imagine why anybody would want to waste any of their time watching this team. It's August and we've got playoff hockey and playoff basketball going on. All you have to do is pretend the Phillies season has been cancelled and a weight will be lifted off your shoulders. Come to the light, friends. The Flyers will show you the way.
Also--I love Harper going to bat for his guy and constantly calling out management here. But I'd also love if he walked into their office and demanded that some of those aforementioned dog shit bullpen pitchers would be released.
