LeSean McCoy Signs With The Buccaneers. What Can We Expect From Him This Year?

The Buccaneers backfield can be pointed to as a weak spot on the roster. They've got Ronald Jones going into his 3rd season and while he's beefed up to about 20 lbs. heavier than his combine weight, it's still unproven if he can be the guy to carry the mail for this team. But, he is looking swole:

RoJo was greatly improved in 2019 with over 1,000 total yards from scrimmage and a healthy 4.2 YPC after his disastrous rookie season where he ran for a paltry 44 yards on 23 carries, but the Bucs still went out and drafted a rookie runner from Vanderbilt in the 3rd round, Ke'Shawn Vaughn.

Now comes the McCoy signing. McCoy has been in the league since 2009 and he got a ring last year with the Chiefs, and while he's a name guy, this is merely a depth signing. He'll be used for his veteran presence and pass catching ability. Last season in KC, he played a whopping 1 snap in the playoffs so I'm not expecting him to put up anything worthy of being on fantasy rosters. I could see him contributing on 3rd downs and potentially getting a carry or two here or there. Worst case scenario, he'll be back to the 3.2 YPC guy he was in 2018 with the Bills or cut before the season kicks off. At the veteran's minimum, it's a low risk signing, but at least he provides some solid veteran depth. But best case scenario, is he can step in in a pinch and help put us over the top in one game with a play or two. Hopefully we'll get to see soon. Welcome to the squad Shady!
