What Is The Point Of Outdoor Furniture?

Let me help you out. 

Is this blog-worthy?

No. Definitely not. 

But figured it wouldn't be so bad if I mixed it in with the 20-something Morning Wake Ups. So please bear with me.

I have a serious question regarding patio, balcony, back yard, and outdoor furniture of all types.

WHAT IS THE POINT OF IT IF YOU HAVE TO BRING IT INSIDE WHEN IT RAINS?

I completely understand that with most cushions, if you leave them outside to get wet, and sit wet, you'll end up with moldy musty smelling cushions. Nobody wants that. 

My point is what is the point of that? 

Why are they manufacturing cushions for "outdoor use" when it's pretty well known that it rains in the outdoors. 

Not just cushions sometimes either. 

I know people with the really really fancy high-end outdoor wicker stuff that bring their stuff in anytime it's not being used. My buddy keeps it on his deck 75% of the summer and lugs it out onto his patio the few times our friends go by his place. Why does he do this? Because his wife is relentless about it because it cost so much. 

Even when it's not raining?

"Yah… the sun is too harsh for the material."

Why not just put covers or tarps over them?

"Because the upholstery still gets damp and mildew grows. They are also a breeding ground for insects."

What the hell is going on out here?

So why not just buy cheap shit you don't have to worry about? Let it brave the elements for a couple of seasons then replace it? 

I get that it's not fiscally or environmentally responsible, but enough is enough.

Playing musical chairs with the $2 on overstock.com seat cushions anytime the forecast calls for precipitation is madness.

Pure madness.
