Recommended: Foo Fighters - Best Of You (Live At Wembley 2008)

I'm kicking off the week with a BANG here on 'Recommended:' with what is in my opinion, one of the greatest and most emotional performances in the history of rock n' roll - the Foo Fighters playing 'Best of You' at Wembley Stadium in 2008.

Before I even go any further, I'll mention that the entire Wembley gig is available for free on the Foo Fighters YouTube page, along with an option to donate towards COVID-19 relief, so check that out and donate if you've got a few bucks lying around....

It's an unbelievable show full of outrageously huge sounding anthem-rock songs, capped off with a surprise appearance by Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin to play 'Ramble On' and 'Rock N' Roll', and everyone's playing like it's the last time they'll ever play. Dave Grohl is screaming all of his lyrics a little louder, Taylor Hawkins is hitting his drums just a little harder, and the rest of the band is stepping into their chords and cues with a little more fierceness than ever before. It's a tremendously captivating and amazing performance that I've watched it no less than 100 times.

There's a moment that comes along about four minutes into 'Best Of You', though, that could melt me into a puddle every time.....

It's just this look of gratitude, and "Fuck, how did this happen?!" from Dave Grohl that breaks him down for a second. It gets me every time. If you know anything about his life, and unlikely journey that led up to that moment, I feel like you'll understand why he got so emotional, as well.
