Wake Up With the Honest Trailer of ‘Twister’

The concept of Honest Trailers is inspired and the execution is consistently excellent. But this latest one for 1996’s “Twister” is just tremendous.

in fact “Twister” is just such ideal fodder for them it makes you wonder how they haven’t done it before. A cheesy action movie you only went to see because GCI was getting better and you wanted to see shit get fucked up. A movie about weather that built a laughably stupid plot around Good storm chasers vs. Evil storm chasers, plus a love triangle. An incredible cast handed a script where 90% of their dialogue was “Look out!” “Come on!” and “Let’s go!” And Phillip Seymour Hoffman, one of the most respected actors of his generation, as Dusty, a mystical hippie so over the top twitchy and quirky that you find yourself rooting for the “Finger of God”  to come down from the clouds and rip him into the “Suck Zone,” man. If “Twister” was about any other topic, I’d call it a perfect storm of badness for the Honest Trailer treatment, but this is no time for dad puns.

Instead I’ll just say this is great work. I can’t wait for the next summer blockbuster they do. And RIP to Bill Paxton and PSH. I can’t believe it’s been 24 years already.
