Kendall Jenner Has To Pay $90,000 For Promoting Fyre Fest On Her Instagram
Remember when Fyre Fest was a thing we all laughed at instead of just being everyday life? Or that fella who said he was going to suck dick for some water before people in this country were ready to suck dick for toilet paper or sanitizer? Better times, I tell ya!
Well it turns out the U.S. Bankruptcy Court 'members it and dropped the hammer on Kendall Jenner for a post she made on Instagram.
NBC News- Kendall Jenner has agreed to pay a $90,000 settlement for her involvement in promoting Fyre Festival on social media, according to a bankruptcy court filing.
Okay, maybe dropping a hammer is a little excessive considering she was paid more than a quarter million dollars for promoting Fyre Fest.
Jenner, who was among several celebrities to post about the fraudulent music event, was paid $275,000 to endorse the festival in 2017. She was sued in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York in August 2019 by Gregory Messer, who argued that Jenner did not only fail to disclose to her followers that she would be paid for advertising Fyre Festival, but that she led them to believe the festival "would be filled with famous models on an 'exotic private island with first-class culinary experiences and a luxury atmosphere.'"
Losing $100,000 would cause an ordinary shlub like myself to have more than a few sleepless nights. But I imagine Kendall Jenner considers it more of a bummer that she ended up making $185,000 instead of $275,000 because she didn't put #ad in her posts. Or she honestly doesn't even know that $90,000 was taken from her account because money isn't real to her family.
Inquiries to Kendall's reps were not made but I imagine she's at least a little bummed out considering I don't see her smiling in ANY of these recent Instagram posts.
Hopefully a fun Memorial Day Weekend will turn her frown upside down neutral expression to a smile or some shit. Whatever. I miss laughing at the misfortunes of other people being forced to eat cheese sandwiches instead of me having to deal with that shit because the grocery store scares me.
