Hipsters Are Paying Three-Hundred Bucks A Pop For Face Masks To Accommodate Their Beards

Source - Brooklyn-based tailor Yosel Tiefenbrun is accustomed to whipping up $8,000 bespoke men’s suits that can require some 80 hours of work to fashion. But these days, the Crown Heights-based sewing superstar is switching gears: cranking out bespoke masks that sell for up to $300 apiece.

“We have to keep safe, but if you’re going to wear [a mask], you might as well wear it in style,” Tiefenbrun, 30, tells The Post. “You want to look good in it.”

While a majority of Tiefenbrun’s orders are for the $50 versions of the face covering, Tiefenbrun also offers up a deluxe $300 option, hand-stitched and custom-designed using exclusive patterns that require a Skype session to design.

It's been a while since I've done some good old fashion hatin' on the blog. I've consciously tried to stayed positive for the last few months and for the most part I have, but goddamnit this story is too good not to hate on. Brooklyn hipsters dropping three-hundred bucks a pop on designer masks to accommodate their beards. Beards that have been meticulously sculpted in boutique barbershops that focus more on "the experience" than the haircut. You know the ones I'm talking about. They give you a glass of whiskey when you walk in and dress like they're on set for a 1930s western. Their beard is their personality and without it they're lost. They're the people who smoke American Spirits because of the box. The one's who grew up bored in a upper middle class suburban household so they decided to differentiate themselves by getting "a look." And that look is a beard. It's upsetting to their family, but they don't care. What's mom going to say? She just wants her son back. Besides, it's who he is now. He's no longer a person, he's an aesthetic, which is his entire identity. And that identity needs to be protected at all costs by a $300 designer mask. I wish anyone who buys that mask nothing but the worst, and in the words of Ice T, "Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. HATE!"

God that blog felt good. Here's where I drew my inspiration...enjoy.
