Data Pornography Of The Day: A Live Chart Of The Home Run Leaders Of The 2000s
Damn man, that chart hammered home a few things:
- Contrary to Mr. Mackey's belief, drugs are not bad, at least if you want to hit dingers and get paid handsomely to do so in future contract negotiations
- Barry Bonds is/was/forever will be awesome
- Jim Thome was one bad donkey dicked motherfucker in his own right
- I can't wait until Albert Pujols can be remembered for being a machine during his Cardinals days instead of whatever you call this Angels malaise model. In particular the guy that hit ridiculous home run off Brad Lidge:
- Most of all, I miss baseball. Like really, really miss baseball. Not just knowing there was something to watch on TV every night. But simply looking at numbers every day, whether they were in the box score or on my fantasy team from players I hadn't watched all season. Not to go all dinosaur baseball writer on you guys, but the numbers meaning something throughout all these years is what makes the sport so cool. You don't even need to watch a baseball game to enjoy it. Listening to it on the radio or watching it on Gamecast still gives me so much more excitement than doing that with other sports that I actually enjoy more than baseball.
That chart just reinforced all those feelings, as did this chart with the all-time home run leaders that includes 8000% more Harry Stovey!
Along with Babe Ruth climbing the ladder of success escalator style that was Laugh Out Loud funny
Heroes get remembered kid, but legends never die.
