USA Today - Comedian Jeffrey Ross told one Walker joke from the roast podium, directing it at the visibly uncomfortable fellow roaster Ludacris onstage. Ludacris was a friend and stars with Walker in the actor’s final film, the upcoming Fast & Furious 7. Ross quoted a famous Ludacris lyric in the joke. “Move b—-, get out of the way. That’s what Paul Walker should have told that tree,” Ross joked as the crowd groaned and more than one audience member booed. Too soon? Too fast? Too furious?” Ross continued. “Give me a break people I’m trying to save this kid’s life.”

Variety – “Just this past year, Justin got arrested for drag racing,” said “Saturday Night Live” star and roaster Pete Davidson. “Unfortunately, it wasn’t with Paul Walker. What? He’s doing great! He’s got a movie coming out!” Even Bieber opposed to references to Walker. After the show, when asked if there was any joke that went too far, the pop star said he “didn’t particularly like the Paul Walker jokes.”

You’re not allowed to get offended by jokes at a roast. Those are the rules. That’s the entire point of a roast, is to cross the line and be as offensive as possible. Yea maybe it’s in bad taste or whatever, but that’s kind of the entire point of it. I hate Comedy Central pussying out and cutting the jokes. When you invite Jeff Ross to a roast, that’s what you are going to get. The awkwardness backstage with Ludacris was probably a top 5 awkward situation since the Big Bang. I can’t even imagine the squirmy feeling everyone had seeing them two in the same room together. And Pete Davidson going “What? He’s doing great! He’s got a movie coming out!” after his joke is awesome. Either way, these roasts always kill and this one for sure will be great too.
