Man of The People Ricky Gervais Slams "Celebs in Mansions" Crying Over Lockdown After Sam Smith-Like Outbursts And Meltdowns

(Full disclosure. I am a Sam Smith fan. The whole he vs. they thing, ya not so much but whatever. His/Their? voice is once in a lifetime. That usually means it carries with it a fair amount of crazy. But that meltdown a couple weeks ago was so tone-deaf it had to make even his most die-hards cringe.)

Flashback two weeks ago -

THE SUN UK - This afternoon Sam - who previously asked family and friends to refer to him as "they" - took to Instagram to reveal the struggle of being stuck inside.

Sharing a series of snaps of them looking in pain, they wrote next to it: "Stages of a quarantine meltdown."

Sam's latest post comes after they admitted yesterday to being "bored s**tless" during self-isolating.

Cue Ricky Gervais -

Comedian Ricky Gervais has made it clear he is not a fan of people who are moaning during the coronavirus lockdown.

The 58-year-old star believes that celebrities, including himself, should not be complaining about being placed on lockdown.

Ricky went on to say that he doesn't want Brits to moan about the current welfare state or medical staff following their astonishing work during the global pandemic.

Speaking to The Sun, the former Golden Globes host said: "These people are doing 14-hour shifts and not complaining. Wearing masks, and being left with sores, after risking their own health and their families’ health selflessly.

"But then I see someone complaining about being in a mansion with a swimming pool. And, you know, honestly, I just don’t want to hear it."

Ricky Gervais gets it. 

Is he swimming in money and fame? 

Absolutely.

But does he want to be apart of that club?

Absolutely not.

And for good reason. 

He's one of the rare few celebrities that has any sense of self-awareness whatsoever. He realizes he and his peers' once in a lifetime "struggles" are a regular Wednesday afternoon for the other 99%.

He's not afraid to speak up and call the phonies out to their faces. All while standing on stage amongst them at their own dick-sucking award shows.

The man is as raw and as real as they come. 

He's also one of the rare one's that has "made it" and never forgotten where he came from. 

In the same interview today he made it a point, as he often does, to talk about his upbringing.

I was the fourth child of an immigrant labourer."

He added: "I had no money growing up, I didn’t have any until I was 40. But I still had everything. My mum, she gardened, she grew, she cooked, she sewed, she knitted, she decorated, she did everything she could.

"And she gave me everything I wanted except money. I also realised growing up that all the best things were free - friends, nature, learning and healthcare. And that’s why I gladly pay my taxes. And that’s why I clap the NHS (National Health Services)."

He has even greater respect for his mother and all females in the workforce.

“Men worked hard, but women worked miracles,” he told the outlet. “Because when my dad finished his work that was his own time. But my mum didn’t stop working, women didn’t stop working. Carers didn’t stop working, all the women in my family were carers in some respect.”

Good guy that Ricky Gervais. Good guy.
