iHeartRadio Is Putting On A "Living Room Concert For America" This Sunday And The Line Up Is Going To Be Awesome
Source - As the coronavirus has kept us in our homes, celebrities have pivoted to making Content from their weird and wonderful homes, taking us from Patti LuPone’s basement to Madonna’s bathtub to Al Roker’s kitchen. And now, Fox will air a real treat on March 29 at 9 p.m. ET, “Fox Presents the iHeart Living Room Concert for America,” presented from many more celebrity homes.
Elton John will host the hour-long benefit from his living room (not the snooker room), featuring performances by musicians like Mariah Carey, Billie Eilish, Billie Joe Armstrong, Alicia Keys, and the Backstreet Boys, all from their own living rooms.
The hour-long special will take the place of the canceled iHeartRadio Music Awards and be presented as a commercial-free tribute to medical workers, with viewers encouraged to donate to Feeding America and the First Responders Children’s Foundation. It’ll also stream for free on Fox’s digital platforms — so listen to the celebrities and stay inside!
*Update, March 27 1:00p.m.: Fox has announced Camila Cabello, Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters, H.E.R. and Sam Smith will also join its musical tribute, the only event that could bring such disparate musicians together.
Did you see that little "update" at the end of the article? Yeah, expect about about a dozen more of those from now until Sunday night when this thing takes place because make no mistake about it, musicians are going to pile on. At least I hope so, they just need to make it more than an hour long in order to fit people in. Even if they don't, the line up is still great. I'm just a little worried about Mariah phoning in it. Regardless, it's going to raise a shit ton of money for charity and that's a good thing.
This reminds me of the concert for NY after 9/11. I don't know if anyone remembers, but in October of 2001 every big musician on the planet came together to put on a concert for the first responders at MSG. I'm talking Bruce Springsteen, U2, Tom Petty, Billy Joel, Dave Matthrews, Paul Simon, Jay Z, Pearl Jam, Mariah Carey, Jon Bon Jovi, Willie Nelson, Paul McCartney the list goes on and on. You can read about it here. I remember The Who got introduced by a firefighter from Rockaway Beach who had just lost his brother and a bunch of other members from his ladder. To this day it's the greatest, most emotional introduction I've ever heard. Goose bump city. If anyone can find the audio, DM it to me and I'll send you a shirt once we're back in HQ.
I hate that I even have to say this, but I am in no way comparing the tragedy of 9/11 to what's going on with COVID-19. I just think it's pretty cool that a concert is being put on to help those who help others. Should be good.
