There's a lot of tradition that comes with barbecue, and especially if you're talking about Texas barbecue. Not that there's any right or wrong way to do it, but there's for sure a standard way. It's pretty much the same as sports if you think about it. I mean there's no right or wrong way to score a touchdown since 6 points are 6 points, but there are still some pretty standard ways that teams go about it. And when a team does something out of the ordinary to score a touchdown, that's a trick play. So that would make the Real Deal Holyfield at Valentina's Tex Mex BBQ the "Philly Special" of the barbecue game.
When you think about brisket in Texas, Aaron Franklin would be the Michael Jordan. And if we're going to keep making comparisons here, then let's go musical and say that brisket would be like jazz or the blues.
