What's The Best Song On Jack Johnson's Brushfire Fairytales?

Pretty much all of life has slowed down now that the whole world is shut down and in quarantine. Which, for the most part, blows a tremendous amount of ass. You know with all that "no sports and can't go get obliterated at the bar" stuff going on. But it can also be pretty sweet at the same time as long as you're healthy and financially stable through these times. As much as no sports sucks, it's also super chill to just wake up in the morning, pour yourself some coffee, kick back, listen to some music and pretend like life isn't becoming just a monotonous blur of time passing by where you have no idea what day it is.

So anyway, that brings us to Jack Johnson's Brushfire Fairytales album. Perhaps the greatest album ever recorded in musical history. Damn near impossible to be in a bad mood whilst gracing your ears with it. Not nearly as upbeat as In Between Dreams but that's what makes it kick ass. You've got Jack Johnson singing about nearly dying in a surfing accident in "Drink The Water" but your mood is still all the way up. You want to get through quarantine without sinking into a deep depression? Pretty simple solution: just throw Jack on repeat. But for an album that is so perfect, which track makes it the most perfect?

The immediate answer is always going to be "Flake". I know Jack Johnson is probably more known for most of the songs off of In Between Dreams and everybody knows Banana Pancakes, but "Flake" is the quintessential Jack Johnson song.

However, right after Flake comes "Bubble Toes". Sure, parts of it doesn't make a lot of sense but that's the beauty of his brain. I'll give my stimulus check to anybody out there who can smash the play button on "Bubble Toes" and not start dancing around in place once you hit that 50 second mark.

I feel like those would be the top 2 seeds in the bracket but then we go to Middle Man. Now I might be speaking to an insanely small demographic here but if you ever had the privilege to play Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer growing up, then Middle Man will always have a special place in your heart from that soundtrack. Such an underrated game. So if you're one of the dozens of people out there who had the chance to play this game, then Middle Man is right up there at the top for you.

Like I mentioned before, "Drink The Water" is about the accident that ended his pro surfing career so that's a bit of a downer, but the song is still an absolute force.

And then an honorable mention goes to "Mudfootball" just because it's about chilling with the boys.

Anyway, kick back and enjoy the rest of your day if you can. Time is yours.
