Wake Up with the Honest Trailer for ‘Rise of Skywalker‘
I have to admit, I liked “Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker” when I first saw it. Surprisingly so, given what a mess “The Last Jedi” was. But I can honestly say, driving home from the theater with the Irish Rose, who’s a bigger “Star Wars” nerd thank I am (and who would Hall Pass me in a nanosecond for Adam Driver OR Daisy Ridley) and two sons we raised on the first six films, we were unanimous in how happy we were with the way this one wrapped up the trilogy.
But ... upon further review, the more I’ve thought about this thing, the less it’s held up. Plot holes you could fly a Star Destroyer through. Bringing back The Emperor in the title crawl. Bringing back The Emperor at all. Plot points that only make sense if you’ve read the books or played Fortnight. The Millennium Falcon being forced to crash land with a broken landing gear when we’ve been watching it take off and land vertically hundreds of times over eight episodes.
I’m just scratching the surface. As usual Honest Trailers leaves no Kyber crystal unturned. (I mean, what was the big deal about the Knights of Ren anyway? Why did we ever care?) This series is consistently excellent, and this might be their masterpiece.
