Gordan Hayward (Correctly) Thinks Being On A Gaming Team Is Somewhat Harder Than Being In The NBA In Ways

[Editor's Note:This is another guest blog from prospective Gaming blogger, @UnfilteredNerd, who knows his stuff and then some. Go and give him a follow.]

Last night during a League of Legends stream, Gordon Hayward was asked who was more toxic: NBA players of LoL players:

“Definitely League players,” he said. “100,000%. League of Legends players are so toxic. I can’t imagine being on a team in the NBA where they’re as toxic as they are in League of Legends.”

Welp...you’re not wrong Gordo. I couldn’t imagine playing with a team as toxic as LoL players in any sport, including professional LoL competitions. That’s not a direct knock against LoL players, it’s really just a knock against gamers in general. Hell, I’ve been that guy. I’ve screamed at my team of randos in Overwatch more that I can remember. I’ve gotten into extremely heated post-match arguments even more. It’s just how the culture of competitive gaming has been for the last decade or so. Ever since I was a prepubescent child playing Modern Warfare 2 hearing someone tell me they were going to “shit down my throat and fuck my mother”, it’s been that way. You talk shit before the match, you talk shit during the match, and you talk shit after the match. This is the way.

It’s not the way I would ever want to interact with actual teammates. Could you imagine if it was? Imagine being Gordon on the Celtics, at the free throw line, you miss your first free throw, you go to knuck up with Kemba and Jaylen in-between shots and they both mutter to you, “you are so fucking trash at this game that it makes me want to projectile vomit every time I look at you.” Cool man. Thanks for the morale support. Gonna for sure drain this next shot after you said that. No, that’s not how you win as a team. Yet somehow, both professional and amateur gamers find a way to cut through the toxicity and win. Maybe we’re just cut from a tougher mold? Maybe we’re numb to it? Who knows. All I know is I ain’t stoppin.

Meet me in the gulag and learn what REAL shit talk is. I’ll make you run crying to your mommy you pussy ass bitch.
