Tennessee DB Tells Police He Was Shot At Bar, Report States He May Have Shot Himself

Meet Brandon Davis, a 3-star safety out of New Orleans. He didn't get much playing time this past year, but things are still looking good for the redshirt sophomore coming into the 2020 season. Today was the first day of spring practice for Tennesse and was supposed to be the start of a big season for Mr. Davis.

That was until he sustained a gunshot wound over the weekend:

SOURCE-Tennessee football player Brandon Davis suffered a gunshot wound in his leg in a weekend incident under investigation by Knoxville police.

He was transported to UT Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

"We are thankful that Brandon's injuries were minor, and he is expected to make a full recovery," Tennessee athletics said in a statement. "We are gathering information as it becomes available."

So, how did this happen, you ask?

Davis, a sophomore defensive back, said he was inside Uptown Bar & Grill when he heard a gunshot and felt pain in his leg and that he "had no idea who shot him or why," according to the incident report. Davis' teammate, rising junior defensive back Trevon Flowers, told the officer he was inside the bar with Davis when the shooting occurred but that he also didn't know who shot Davis.

Alright, maybe a stray bullet? That happens. Just unlucky.

Officers searched the bar and did not find any shell casings or blood, and were unable to locate anyone inside the bar that heard any gunshots or who saw Davis and Flowers in the bar before the shooting. An officer overheard several people say that Davis shot himself in the leg, according to the incident report.

Oh….you don't say?

Do we have a Plaxico Burress situation on our hands?

Here is Brandon Davis denying such incident:

What a tweet. Tennessee football…never boring.

The Knoxville PD is currently investigating, which of course is the same police department that Jeremy Pruitt had an issue with earlier in the season:
