The Fucking Worst Thing You'll Read Today

I am not doing this for clicks.

The title is not ironic, so turn away now, if you'd like.

I am not doing this to be outrageous, and many of you will either think or comment, "This is a little heavy for a Monday morning, Large.", but I don't care.

I have one name from history that immediately springs to mind whenever I need to personify the word "evil".  And I think that name is the same for most people reading this: Adolph Hitler.

There are a few who may prefer to use Osama Bin Laden, and there are a handful of demented serial killers (Dahmer, Gacy, Bundy, Kemper, etc) who also certainly fit the bill.

But what about Richard Smith II?

Where does he rank?

Until recently, I didn't know where he ranked because I didn't know who he was, and I think that's a problem.

There was a VERY large chunk of time when evil characters like Jack the Ripper or Son of Sam were front and center on every newspaper.  People were fascinated in their doings, and invested in their capture.

And we still have a fascination with those older names... I just recorded a podcast about serial killers from the past... However, I don't think we pay enough attention (at least I don't) to the villains who are still "active."

Nowadays, it seems you have to wade your way through 50 pages of Kardashian/West updates before you get to the trial of Richard Smith II.  Stories like his (and I will get to his story in a moment, I swear) don't get clicks.  They don't interest people as much as, say, a viral video where an innocent fisting goes horribly wrong or a Tweet where someone finds a facemask in a McNugget.

I'm guilty of it too.

I spend more time on the Food Network watching people I don't like cooking food I wouldn't eat for people I don't know than I do looking at stories that are arguably more important. Like this one...

Richard Smith II and his ex-girlfriend, Roseanna Thompson, were arrested in May 2018 for crimes they committed three years prior.

In March, Richard was sentenced to up to 775 years (maximum) in prison for molesting Thompson’s 1-year-old granddaughter in 2015.

So that I don't need to circle back to this detail- He and his girlfriend beat and had sex with a 1-year-old girl multiple times.

Kanawha Circuit Judge Tera Salango sentenced Smith to a minimum of 205 years in prison after a jury found Smith guilty on 11 counts of first-degree sexual abuse, four counts of sexual assault and five counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person in a position of trust.

Do you know how he got caught?

He videotaped the multiple sessions of physical and sexual abuse.

Then, in between the years 2015 and 2018, Smith and Thompson broke up.  Smith miraculously found another girlfriend, married that new girl, and, in May 2018, that new wife came across the videos of Richard and Roseanna repeatedly sexually assaulting and abusing Thompson’s infant granddaughter while the new wife was cleaning their home.

She turned the videos over to the police (thank God), and Smith and Thompson were later arrested.

Here's the sentencing...

That's it.

No commentary given.

No not-so-clever jokes made.

Just add Richard Smith II to your list of truly evil fucks who deserve to either be buried underneath a fucking prison or thrown into a fucking active volcano and maybe ask yourself the same question I asked myself after I read about a man who will ultimately be sentenced to somewhere between 200 to 800 years behind bars after being caught on tape abusing a 1-year-old physically and sexually, "What does it take to be put to death nowadays?".

But since it seems like he'll avoid the needle, I sincerely hope his fellow inmates never run out of energy while abusing the life out of this fucking troll... And if they decide to get it on tape, I hope it goes more viral than COVID.

Now try to forget everything I just wrote, and have a good week.

Take a report.
