8 Years Ago Today: "Who Do You Think You Are?! I Am!"

Eight years ago today, possibly the greatest 21st century sports quote was uttered.

Pete Weber won the 69th U.S. Open in the final frame and then let out his now iconic refrain: "Goddamn it, yes! That's right, I did it! Number five, are you kidding me?! That's right! Who do you think you are?! I am!"

What a line. The Bad Boy of Bowling claimed his record fifth U.S. Open and then let loose, apparently on a fan in the crowd who had been heckling him throughout the match.

Ah, so it was a classic Neil Armstrong scenario. Two of the most famous quotes in our society were actually misquotes from their creators. But I'm glad Weber actually forgot the rest of his line, because it's nowhere near as good as what he actually ended up saying.

This is one of my favorite exclamations of all-time. It just rolls off the tongue so nicely and has a nice little punch to it. Happy anniversary to The King.
