I mean...what do you want Jacob Trouba to do here? Last time I checked, hockey is a contact sport. He lowered the shoulder, didn't make any attempt to target the head, and it's not his fault that Dal Colle had his eyes glued to the ice here. That right there is just the result of a good ol' fashioned hospital pass.
I know there are going to be a bunch of dorks out there who complain about this hit. I know there are going to be a bunch of idiots who cry about the fact that Trouba could have pulled up and not completely murder the guy. But if you try to take this hit out of the game, you turn the NHL into squirts. That right there is a great, clean hit. The only person who should be suspended here is whoever sent Dal Colle directly onto the tracks as the train was coming through. You want to suspend anybody after a hospital pass? Suspend whoever snapped off that breakout pass to his feet. Nothing wrong with this hit on Trouba's end. This is what we'd call a manslaughter more than a homicide.
Anyone who disagrees prefers boneless wings. Good on new guy JG Pageau for dropping the mitts there and at least attempting to fight Trouba. That's how you earn that new contract extension with a new squad.
