They Need To Bring Back The Show 'The Mole'

It's time to bring back 'The Mole'.

When it comes to shows and entertainment before its time, 'The Mole' was just that.

What is 'The Mole' you ask? here were the rules...

- Ten players - all strangers. Nine contestants, and one "Mole" (whose identity is kept secret from all the other players and the viewing audience).

- The players participate in various tests (games, physical challenges, puzzles, etc.) to try to earn money to a cash pot, up to a maximum of $1,000,000. The mole's duty is to sabotage the games, and prevent money from being added to the pot, while avoiding, or deflecting suspicion.

- Each episode, the players take a 20-question quiz about the identity of the mole. The player who answers the fewest questions correctly (or in case of a tie, finishes the test the slowest), is "executed" and must leave the game immediately.

- Each episode, one player is executed; the game continues until only three players remain. Two contestants, and the mole. The contestant who scores the highest on the final quiz wins the game, and the entire accumulated cash pot.

Before I go any further, let me just offer up the entire first episode of 'The Mole' for nostalgic purposes or if you want to get a taste of what you might have missed out on...

(the whole series is on YouTube)

'The Mole' was fantastic television that would have thrived during the social media era. They're joking a bit, but Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen knew what the problem was…

It might have been a bit convoluted at times, but it would do wonders in 2020. If anything, it might be too easy nowadays with Reddit and Twitter picking the show apart piece by piece. 'The Mole' was intriguing, captivating and, most importantly, very thought-provoking. It wasn't mindless, dumb television and that is the type of thing I want to watch right now, honestly. I love the week-by-week TV model but this show would be fantastic as a streaming-binge model.

They even did a 'Celebrity Mole' for Season 3 in 2003!

Look, Kathy Griffin m̶a̶y̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶ is not the ideal contestant, but fucking Roger Dorn himself Corbin Bernsen!? Electric television!

This wasn't the only I want to be brought back, I also tossed out this gem…

Here's the thing about 'Joe Millionaire'… it was fucking trash television. Whatever show you currently think is the trashiest and dumbest, 'Joe Millionaire' has it beat by a mile. After thinking about, I don't think we need to bring back 'Joe Millionaire'.

But 'The Mole'? Do the right thing ABC, you're already bringing back 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'.

Since this is a reality television blog, I am going to end it with the reality television contest KING… Boston Rob.

"I'm really sorry that you feel that way."

EDIT: Hold up, do you remember the reality show 'The Joe Schmo Show' where they duped some poor guy into being in a 'Truman Show' version of reality television?
