Ryan Palmer Needing Six Shots To Get Out Of A Bunker Is The Most Relatable Thing That'll Happen On The PGA Tour This Year

I'm a bad golfer. Everyone knows I'm a bad golfer because all the golf I play is on camera which is then made into a video which people then watch and they always walk away thinking, "That guy is a bad golfer." I'm fine with it but the thing I'm the worst at is getting out of a bunker. The reason it's the thing I'm the worst at is because there's no consistency in my bunker game. Every  time I find myself with sand under my feet and a golf club in my hand (and it happens far more frequently than I'd prefer) I never know what's going to happen. Literally never. Every time I'm in a bunker my brain and body act like it's a foreign concept. Getting out of a bunker on the first try isn't even on the menu for me, getting out of a bunker on the second try is a near-miracle and getting out of a bunker on the third try is still pretty unlikely. It's gotten so bad at times that I've requested a sleeping bag to stay the night. I've physically left every bunker I've ever been in but my soul remains in a few of them.

What I'm trying to say is I really appreciate professional golfer Ryan Palmer needing SIX shots to get out of a bunker at the Genesis Invitational because it's the most relatable thing that'll happen on the PGA Tour this year. Professional golfers make hard golf things look super easy all the time but the one I'm by far the most impressed by is their ability to get out of a bunker on the first try 99.99999999999999% of the time. So it was oddly comforting to see a guy who plays golf for a living have the same struggles I have. That won't make Ryan Palmer feel any better unfortunately. His soul remains in that bunk and will for eternity.
