Ryan Tannehill Wins Comeback Player of the Year for Coming Back From ... Well, Nobody Really Knows

As the NFL awards for the 2019 season were being handed out Saturday night, Comeback Player of the Year went to Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Because ... he's not as bad as he used to be? I honestly don't understand.

Tannehill had a great season and was a huge part of the reason Tennessee ended up in the playoffs and eventually the AFC Championship Game — but he didn't come back from anything. It seems pretty obvious to me Tannehill was always a solid player and was just stuck in a dysfunctional situation where he was unable to be successful.

But again, going to a new team isn't really overcoming any obstacles. Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL last season and led a team which went 4-12 in 2018 to a Super Bowl berth this season. That's a comeback.

But if I spent too much time trying to rationalize any decision the NFL or the mainstream media made, I'd never get any sleep. So congratulations to Tannehill on his comeback from being bad.
