Minor League Hockey Player Unleashes A Clapper Into Opponent's Bench, Proceeds To Get The Shit Kicked Out Of Him And Suspended For The Rest Of The Year

You know when you go back to rewatch Slap Shot and you think to yourself, "holy shit this is so ridiculous. I can't believe there actually used to be leagues like this"? Well guess what, cowboy. Those leagues still exist so allow me to introduce you to the Federal Prospects Hockey League. Technically it's a professional hockey league but professional in the sense that tickets are maybe $5 and you buy beers with whatever coins are in your pocket. Chances are most of the beers that are getting crushed during the games are by the players themselves.

And let me make something clear real quick--I've got nothing against guys who simply will not give up on the dream. I mean if you're playing in the FPHL, chances are the dream is over for you. Like the top scorer in this league played 10 games in the ECHL. Which is still better than most guys who played a little bit in high school. But these guys are way closer to beer leaguers than they are to NHL prospects, ya know? So all the credit in the world to these guys for saying fuck it to getting a regular office job and still just grinding away in some league where the per diem is probably a 6-pack for the bus ride to games.

But you can only grind away for so long. You can only spend so many hours traveling in a bus to play in front of a couple hundred fans in some little town before you crack. And that, my friends, is when you decide to unleash a clap bomb into the opposing bench like an absolute psychopath.

Gets his face caved in a little and ends up getting suspended for the rest of the season. Honestly? Might be worth it. I mean the majority of competitive hockey careers end with a devastating loss. Maybe it was your final game of high school. Maybe it was your final game of college. Maybe you tried to play junior for a few years. Either way, your competitive playing career rarely ends on your own terms before making the jump to being a full-time beer leaguer. But for Brody Duncan (epic hockey name by the way)? He gets to go out in a blaze of glory. Scumbag move, for sure. But nobody got hurt, he doesn't need to ride the bus anymore, and now everyone at his local beer league is going to be terrified of him. All in all, I'd say this worked out for the kid.
