New College Football OC Hire Asked What Historical Figure He'd Love To Eat A Meal With: "I'm Going To Say Adolf Hitler."

CBSSports Just seven days after announcing his hire, Grand Valley State University suspended offensive coordinator Morris Berger on Monday after remarks made to the university's student newspaper about Adolf Hitler. Berger's remarks were given in a Q&A published by The Lanthorn on Jan. 23. Berger was asked which three historical figures he would most like to dine with, with the former German dictator during the World War II era earning a spot on the list.

Yesterday was Holocaust Remembrance Day. Grand Valley State University celebrated by suspending their brand new offensive coordinator for saying, out of ALL the people in history — the billions of billions of human beings who have lived on this Earth for thousands and thousands of years — the person he'd most like to dine with is former German dictator Adolf Hitler.

"This is probably not going to get a good review, but I'm going to say Adolf Hitler," Berger said. "It was obviously very sad and he had bad motives, but the way he was able to lead was second-to-none. How he rallied a group and a following, I want to know how he did that. Bad intentions of course, but you can't deny he wasn't a great leader."

It's a pretty good rule of thumb that when you start a thought with "this is probably not going to get a good review", you should stop yourself right there and not complete the thought. It's right up there with "this is going to sound bad" or "no offense" or "I'm just saying…" It is a 100% fact that whatever you say next is NOT going to get a good review, it IS going to sound bad, it IS going to offend, and you should NOT just say it.

Even this one shocked me though. Although it shouldn't. A ton of people feel this way and have felt this way for a very long time. But when anti-semitism goes mainstream it's much easier to say it out loud.

"I want to know how he did that."

But Coach Berger, you do know how he did that!

"Berger graduated from Drury University in 2012 with a degree in history."

It's actually included in the question that was asked to him:

He also has a master's degree in psychology. So not only does he know exactly who Hitler is and "how he did that," he knows how fucking stupid he is.

Drury and Missouri should demand their diplomas back and GVSU should consider if a guy who wants to sit down for steaks and asparagus with Hitler to pick his brain on the best tactics for committing genocide is a good fit to be the leader and mentor for a group of young men.
