LA City Council Asking MLB To Retroactively Award 2017, 2018 World Series Wins To The Dodgers

Just when you thought Dodgers fans couldn't get any worse....

From CBS Sports:

Following the high profile cheating scandal that has rocked Major League Baseball to its core, the Los Angeles City Council did what Los Angelinos are wont to do and asked, "but what about us and our needs?"

According to a report from Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times, the city government will vote this week on a resolution that would not only ask Major League Baseball to vacate the World Series titles of the Astros and Red Sox in 2017 and 2018, respectively, but also retroactively award both of those titles to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

There's also a Change.org petition going for the Astros to vacate the 2017 World Series championship title and so far 2,847 have signed it. Who's behind such a petition? We may never know (because I'm too lazy to create an account to see who the petition creator 'J R' is), but one can guess who their favorite team might be…

As for the Dodgers organization themselves, they released this statement earlier in the week:

Which is really no statement at all.

Yes, there's definitely an argument to be made that the punishments doled out by MLB weren't enough (especially as more & more comes to light), but I think we can all agree that doing anything good for the Dodgers is also a bad thing out of principle.

*Author of this blog is normally a bleeding heart who might be on their side, but is *slightly* biased due to bad experience at a 2011 Phillies/Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium that she will never, ever stop whining about even though maybe it was silly to wear a Phillies jersey with her first name on the back way up in the nosebleeds where the drunk LA fans were sitting. But that guy shouldn't have thrown his peanut shells on me. And they shouldn't have all laughed when my glasses fell & got scratched.
