With A Snowstorm Inbound, The Packers Need 700 Of **YOU** To Shovel Lambeau Field Before Sunday's Game

From the official Green Bay Packers website:

With the expected snowfall Saturday night and into Sunday, Lambeau Field will be in need of snow removal on Sunday morning, Jan. 12, ahead of the Packers-Seahawks game. The Packers are asking as many as 700 shovelers to assist with the process beginning at 6 a.m.

Those interested are asked to report to the Fleet Farm Gate on Lambeau Field’s west side, with temporary parking available in Lot 6. Vehicles must be removed from Lot 6 when shoveling is complete.

With the NFL gameday stadium safety policies in place Sunday morning, all shovelers entering must use walk-through metal detectors when they enter the building. To allow for a more efficient entry process, no bags, backpacks or purses will be allowed inside.

Shovelers need to be at least 18 years old and will receive $12 per hour, with payment to be made immediately upon completion of their work. The Packers will provide shovels to all who come to help.

Knowing that snow shoveling is a big-time cause of heart attacks & thrown-out backs, I'm not 100% sure that's the best thing for a kielbasa & buttered pierogi loving people... but on the other hand, the motion of snow shoveling has to be a deeply ingrained part of their DNA at this point.

And I kind of love it... Team fans AKA stockholders coming together to have an active part in helping their Packers get ready for the big playoff game.

As I was expressing my delight at this & my desire to go join in (imagining sledding down that stair-case-snow-ramp into the back of a fluffy snow truck), several people informed me that this has been going on forever and is not news. #KatieFootball

Also, PFT overheard & informed me not everyone is loving this news.

PFT: Some people are mad at them though.

Me: Why?

PFT: Because it's the internet.

Me: Ah. Packer shaaaaame!

PFT: Some are saying, 'The team has a ton of money, why don't they really hire people to do this?'. But all the town of Lambeau has is the Green Bay packers… It's sort of a beloved tradition there…

In fact, on Lambeau Field's official Twitter account, the responses to their announcement seeking shovelers was met with happy volunteers & people debating whether to fly or drive a long ways just to be one of the 700.

Good for you XXXHeffDaddyXXX… Hope you make it!
