Nate Diaz Says He Kicked "This Whole Fight Shit" Back Into Gear, And He's Got A Point

After returning to the octagon TWICE in 2019 following nearly three years spent away from the cage, Nathan Diaz would like a bit more credit than he's getting for kicking this whole fight shit back into gear - and honestly - I wouldn't argue with that one bit.

Prior to Diaz's sorta out-of-nowhere bout with Anthony "Showtime" Pettis, I don't wanna say the UFC was void of stars or something, because they weren't (Isreal "The Last Stylebender" Adesanya is living proof of that) but there was a definite lull in big money fights that had the public talking. Nobody around the office had any UFC questions for me until Nate Diaz's name sprung back up and that's a fact.

Diaz picked up a very impressive win over Pettis, called out Jorge Masvidal (setting up what wound up being the biggest fight of the year), and most importantly - he declared himself the "Baddest Motherfucker In The Game", promising to defend that title anywhere, and then EVERYONE was asking me questions about the UFC. Even the most casual of fans wanted to know more and couldn't wait for this matchup. Celebrities were posting all about it, the fans rallied behind it, and the bosses made it happen in such a short period of time.

Masvidal wound up taking the "BMF" title from Diaz in November, but now, with McGregor having his eyes set on that championship, and Masvidal thriving more than anyone ever could've imagined...maybe Nate Diaz is right?

Maybe he DID kick this whole fight shit back into gear. It's certainly an interesting thought.
