White Sox Lose Out On Zack Wheeler... Whatever

People are acting like I should be OUTRAGED at this.  I’m not.  Does it suck?  Sure, of course.  For two reasons:

1.  They made a better offer

2. I’m going to have to deal with hordes of people who said I called this and guaranteed the Sox would sign him, blah blah blah.  That never happened.  And we already have Carrabis grasping at straws on a tweet I sent this morning where I 100% qualified how wrong my prediction (keyword) could be with regards to Philly, Cinci and Wheeler:

Look, Zack Wheeler has been a better than average starting pitcher for a few years now.  Prior to that he was constantly hurt and underperformed.  That said, he has A+ shit and Philly is paying for what they *think* they can turn him into, which is something similar to his common player comp, Gerrit Cole, not what he’s already done as a pitcher.  High risk/high reward.

This situation is COMPLETELY different from the Machado miss.  Am I mad?  Again, yeah, a little, for the reasons I detailed above, but the White Sox made the best financial offer.  They can’t control that his fucking wife is from the shithole that is New Jersey and she made him take less money to play with Philly.

Such is life as a Sox fan.  If it ain’t one thing, it’s another.  WHY DIDN’T THEY JUST SIGN HIS COUSIN AND BROTHER IN LAW!!!

I’ll admit I got a little too gungho about the potential signing because I’m addicted to hot stove season but in general, I’m fine.  They made the best financial offer.  Just have to pivot.  There are other SPs they can acquire via trade or free agency that serve the same purpose he does.  NOW GO FUCKING DO IT.  Sick of fucking losing.  If Sox fans have to suffer through another Dylan Covey start, we have every single right to lose our collective minds at the front office and Jerry Reinsdorf.
