Who Was the Astros Player Who Started The Sign Stealing? I think I Found Him UPDATE: I Look To Have Been Spot On

Hubbs already talked about the whole situation here.  The most telling evidence that the entire Athletic article is true is via this Jomboy video of an Astros vs. White Sox game back in 2017:

Clear as DAY that they're stealing signs.  Nobody on 2B so the only possible answer here is that they have cameras piping in on the away team's dong piece then relaying the sign to the hitter.  There's no other feasible explanation.

So let's rewind it back to one of the first quotes of Rosnethal's article in the Athletic.  If you haven't read it, it's an awesome read.  Here's the quote:

Early in the 2017 season, at least two uniformed Astros got together to start the process. One was a hitter who was struggling at the plate

The other guy was a coach.  So it gots me to digging through some stats.  Love me some stats.  The thing about stats is they're completely objective and you can't fuck them up.  Not ever.  Fuck you and fuck your mother.

Anyways, this story is about the 2017 season specifically, but there's no telling how deep or how long this entire thing went on.  That said, take a look at Jake Marisnick's split stats from 2017:

The differences are night and day.  Those are Coors Field splits on needle in the asshole steroids.  Hmmm.  It's said often 'round these parts, but this really makes you think.

What we do know is this:  multiple teams, including the White Sox in 2017, have filed grievances with the league against the Astros for illegal sign stealing.  No idea how long they were doing it for, or why this news is all coming out years after the fact, but Marisnick's splits really leveled off in the next two years:

There are basically no major differences between his home/away splits in the following years.  Not trying to be a rat, just trying to say that Jake Marisnick probably had a camera not only hardwired to the dugout, but hardwired to his goddamn brain in 2017.  No other explanation.  He's the culprit.  Jake Marisnick in the dugout with a 42" flat screen.

I've been in a rabbit hole this morning with this shit.  The sequence goes like this: no bangs for a fastball, one bang for a breaking pitch, two bangs for a changeup.  Here's Marisnick hitting a ball to the moon off a breaking pitch and the bang prior to the pitch is crystal clear:
