10/12/19: Barstool's Battle for the South

Tomorrow is the day I’ve been waiting for since I first met Brandon Walker. My work dad and I do battle as our teams square off in Neyland Stadium.Screen Shot 2019-10-11 at 12.03.01 PM

Barstool’s Battle for the South. The Sweet Tea Showdown. The Dixieland Donnybrook. Whatever name you want to bestow upon a game featuring two of the SEC’s powerhouse programs, it’s going to be a war.

And let me take a moment to say how much I love Brandon. I referred to him as my work dad. He’s a good man whose company I enjoy immensely. That said, I need the Tennessee Volunteers to give me this one. I will do my best to not dance on Brandon’s grave as I know he takes this as seriously as I do, but I need this W.

However, Brandon has said some things about Tennessee which would make it easy for someone of lesser integrity than myself to root for his heart to be ripped out and stomp on it in front of him, but again, I am above such behavior.

In all seriousness, I love Brandon and I can’t wait to watch with him tomorrow. It’s going to be a fun time. The Vols have Brian Maurer at the helm ready to lead the squad to a season-altering victory and Mississippi State rolls into town looking to pick up a second conference win before going through the rest of the SEC West gauntlet.

We’ll be live streaming on Periscope @barstoolsports and @barstoolbets so be sure to tune in and see what happens in a game nobody in the country would otherwise care about. Two large, Southern gentlemen enter. Only one emerges with the title of Sweet Tea Showdown champ.

Go Vols.
