CC Sabathia Will Not Be On The Yankees Roster For The ALDS

CC Sabathia will not be on the Yankees ALDS roster. It seemed like this was where we were headed the last few days once the Texas series ended. I still thought they would find a spot for CC on the team given how it's his last year and how much he means to the guys, but that's not the case. Now he's still going to be in the dugout and in the clubhouse the whole way obviously, he just won't be on the mound. His veteran voice will be heard plenty in October don'y kid yourself.

From a baseball perspective this is the right move. He's not close to 100% healthy. With his age you can't afford to force him onto the roster with a bad shoulder and knee. You have to use that spot for a good purpose, not some gimmick for a feel good story. They're trying to win a championship. Hopefully he's ready to go for the ALCS if they get there, god willing.

This will open up another spot on the roster for maybe a Tyler Lyons, Cory Gearrin, or Nestor Cortes.

I would think we'll have to wait until Friday morning to know the official roster but I would go with this..

Hitters (13): Gary Sanchez, Austin Romine, DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres, Didi Gregorius, Gio Urshela, Brett Gardner, Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Edwin Encarnacion, Luke Voit, Tyler Wade, Cameron Maybin

Pitchers (12): James Paxton, JA Happ, Masahiro Tanaka, Luis Severino, Chad Green, Tommy Kahnle, Zack Britton, Adam Ottavino, Aroldis Chapman, Luis Cessa, Johnny Lasagna, Nestor Cortes

I know Ford has taken over Clint Frazier's locker and seems like a lock, but I'm holding strong with Voit. Maybe they go with Ford over Maybin? I don't know how to make sense of that last roster spot. It's breaking my brain.
