The RFA deals are all flowing in across the NHL now and the closest comparable for Debrincat probably is Laine. Wingers who were just born to score goals and do it in bunches. Well Laine just netted himself a bridge deal that the Blackhawks should take to Debrincat, add another $500k and throw it right in his face. Be aggressive. Get this shit done so you can plan ahead with the rest of the roster. Do it now before Debrincat plays a full season with Strome and maybe Patrick Kane and does something crazy like…score 55 goals.

Laine has 100 goals and 184 points in his first three years. Debrincat has 69 goals and 128 points through his first two years. And I gotta say…I think Debrincat is the better player. Sure, Laine was the higher pick, he’s roughly a foot taller than Debrincat, and he’s got more raw power in his shot, but I’d rather go to war with Debrincat than Laine. Laine disappears for stretches. Not just stretches during a game. Stretches during a season. Debrincat is a good player who plays with a chip. He’s an undercover sonofabitch. He’s unpleasant to play against and I know when the Blackhawks get him to the playoffs THIS year he is going to produce. If the Blackhawks can get Debrincat for like $7.25M and Strome for $5M that is a MAJOR relief for the Blackhawks who probably saw the Matthews and Marner deals and instantly made this face

$12-13M for those two guys is should be managable. 15M and you’re in trouble again. Strike now before it’s too late because Debrincat priced himself out.
