Lonzo Says Life Is Easier Now That He's Making His Own Decisions And Controlling His Life But It's 'All Love' For LaVar
[Source] – “What makes it easier is I’m controlling everything now,” he said. “You really can’t tell me what to do. It’s my life, my career. I’m making all the decisions now. I chose to go to CAA. I think me becoming my own man is going to make it easier, honestly.”
“That’s part of life. I’m growing up. He has his ways, I have mine. We just got into it. That’s what fathers and sons do as time goes on. At the end of the day, it’s always love at the end. I know he loves me, I love him. We’re just not always going to agree on everything. That’s all it was.”
I’m absolutely fascinated by Lonzo Ball. I guess you can count that as a win for LaVar and Big Baller Brand. But how many other guys can we list that had this sort of viral shitshow in a way that wasn’t because of him. Like Zion was viral because he is a freak of nature. Lonzo is always going viral because of his dad. Lonzo’s a quiet dude who just balled. He never did anything crazy.
An injury really kept Lonzo’s season and improvement quiet. He’s been a MUCH better defender than everyone thought in the NBA. Yeah, he still needs to figure out that shot, but the fact he figured out defense makes him game a whole lot different. Note: I still don’t think he can guard De’Aaron Fox.
The best thing that could have happened to Lonzo was getting the fuck out of Los Angeles. Well, the best thing was probably not wearing BBB shoes. I mean he’s admitted they were a waste.
“It was different, but at the same time, we were trying to build a brand,” Lonzo said about coming out of UCLA and wearing his own shoes. “I had to wear them. But there was no way we could play in the shoes I had in summer league. There was no way they would make it to the NBA court.
Being able to make his own decisions though and not being in southern California is what he needed. I like his fit a ton next to Holiday. We’ve seen the Pelicans have success with a Holiday/Rondo backcourt, so they know how to run a 2-lead guard set.
Good thing it’s all love though. That’s just the Big Baller Brand way (or so Clem tells me).
